(WND)—The co-founder of the ActBlue Democrat fundraising behemoth, which has raised billions of dollars, or more, for various Democrat operatives, testified for a congressional hearing as part of its investigation into the schemes used.
But members didn’t learn much, as Matt DeBergalis invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination over and over and over.
It was the same response used by Anthony Fauci, Joe Biden’s key COVID adviser who has been revealed to have been lying to the American public during the China virus pandemic, over and over.
A report posted by the Washington Examiner explained the responses were during a closed-door deposition.
“The interview before the House Administration, House Judiciary, and Oversight and Government Reform committees lasted less than half an hour, according to two sources familiar with the hearing,” the report said.
Republicans have charged that ActBlue’s lax fraud-prevention practices let fraudulent and foreign donations become integral to U.S. political campaigns.
ActBlue has denied any wrongdoing, but the lack of a response didn’t assure Republicans that all was above-board.
“What is ActBlue hiding?” Rep. Eli Crane, R-Ariz., posted to X Thursday afternoon.
The Gateway Pundit reported the organization has, at times, been suspected of funneling millions of dollars through payroll firm Rippling, “taken from unwitting employees.”
In other instances, the publication reported on five ActBlue employees who pleaded the Fifth on 146 questions during a House Judiciary deposition, and the CEO, Regina Walls, invoking the Fifth more than 20 times during a congressional hearing.
“At the same time that the five ActBlue employees were being deposed, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton had filed a lawsuit for ‘deceiving Americans’ by accepting fraudulent donations,” the report said.
The House Administration Committee opened its investigation in 2023, focusing in part on ActBlue’s previous practice of not requiring donors to provide the security code, known as a CVV, printed on their credit cards.
Members of Congress earlier released a report that ActBlue workers allegedly knew foreign interests were exploiting the platform, but did not treat the threat seriously.
The report said, “Democratic candidates and organizations continue to use ActBlue, which reportedly processed $586 million for Democratic candidates, causes, and groups during the second quarter of 2026. The platform says it has raised roughly $20 billion since its creation.
