(The Daily Caller)—Daily Caller News Foundation co-founder Tucker Carlson disputed reports Monday that he endorsed Democratic Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.
Corporate media claimed that Carlson endorsed El-Sayed after stating that he would not vote for Republican Michigan Senate candidate Mike Rogers “at gunpoint” during a Sept. 2 episode of “The Tucker Carlson Show.” He argued during his most recent episode that he never endorsed El-Sayed or any other candidate in Michigan, but was merely pointing out that Rogers is not a true conservative.
“That’s the candidate in Michigan I supposedly endorsed .. which is absurd,” Carlson said. “I don’t know anything about him.”
“Did you [endorse him]?” journalist Max Blumenthal asked.
“Of course not,” Carlson replied. “I didn’t endorse anybody. I’m a podcaster. But, moreover, I just know the guy he’s running against, Mike Rogers, who’s a loathsome person. Mike Rogers is exactly the Republican you run if you want to lose and they ran him before and he lost. Because no normal person would vote for Mike Rogers. He is the embodiment of everything that is ugly, immoral and stupid about the national security state. He is a tool of repression. He’s totally for warrantless spying and searches and everything that a conservative should be against. Mike Rogers is not a conservative to put it mildly. So I said, ‘this is craziness, you’re Mike Rogers?’ No way! And they’re like ‘well you endorsed the Muslim guy!’”
Rogers previously served in the House and chaired the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence between 2011 and 2015. He strongly supported the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and has supported Israel.
Carlson accused Rogers of being “basically a tool of Israel and the intel agencies,” The Detroit News reported.
“There is no one that should be farther from a position of power than Mike Rogers,” Carlson said.
Rogers lost his previous bid for Senate to Democratic Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin in 2024.
El-Sayed received endorsements from independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. He campaigned on supporting Medicare for All, abolishing ICE, codifying abortion into law and permitting so-called “gender-affirming care,” according to his campaign website. He rejected a socialist label, stating that he is a “capitalist” who wants to regulate monopolies and oligopolies.
The further-left candidate defeated his more moderate opponent, Democratic Michigan Rep. Haley Stevens, by one point during the Democratic primary in August.
