(WND)—As the conflict with Iran enters its seventh month, President Donald Trump on Tuesday wondered: “When are the Iranian people going to rise up and fight?”
Trump’s comment on Truth Social came as he dismissed the idea the U.S. was trying to pressure the Islamic Republic to renew peace talks.
“I’m not trying to force Iran to the bargaining table, as ABC Fake News reported,” Trump explained. “I couldn’t care less if they sign a worthless, to them, agreement.”
“I like our position now much better, with almost total control of the Hormuz Strait, and their economy totally collapsing. They are just playing out the inevitable.”
Trump was apparently responding to an ABC News report by its chief White House correspondent Mary Bruce in which she stated: “The Trump administration is trying to turn up the economic pressure on Iran. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent saying there are going to economically asphyxiate Iran and force them to the bargaining table. But … so far no signs Iran is giving in.”
Jorge Bonilla at Newsbusters noted: “ABC News continues to consistently be the most Trump-deranged and most committed to airing Resistance™ slop among the three major broadcast network newscasts.”
“The report opens with anchor David Muir highlighting Vladimir Putin’s support of Iran. Muir then kicks to Bruce, who knocks Trump for threatening Iran and for downplaying the war. After echoing Iran claims of a wedding getting hit, Bruce reemphasizes Putin’s support for Iran. But only in ambiguous terms. There was no mention, for example, of the explosive report indicating that Russia shared its supersonic missile technology.”
“The report closes out with Bruce sounding like an IRGC public affairs officer, huffily proclaiming that Iran has shown no sign of giving in. In the Trump era, Resistance™ takes on many forms. In this case, it sure sounds a lot like cheerleading for Iran.”
In the Oval Office on July 21, Bruce said to Trump: “There are no signs that Iran is ready to stop fighting, so what is the plan?”
Trump replied: “Do you know something that I don’t know? You don’t know what the dialogue is behind the scenes that they want to meet desperately to try to end it because they’re getting decimated. You don’t get that when you listen to your fake station. You don’t know anything.”

Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command forces successfully completed a new wave of strikes against Iranian military targets on Tuesday.
“U.S. forces struck Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets including air defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets and facilities, mine laying capabilities, and communications sites,” CENTCOM announced.
“The strikes follow recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members.”
