Trump Says He “Expects to Be Bombing” Iran if No Deal Is Reached

DCNF(The Daily Caller)—President Donald Trump said Tuesday he expects to continue bombing Iran if negotiators fail to reach a deal on ending the war.

Top administration officials are expected to travel to Pakistan on Tuesday for a second round of negotiations to end the war by the Wednesday deadline. During an appearance on CNBC, Trump said the U.S. military will likely continue resume strikes on Iran if the ceasefire is not extended before then.

“Well, I expect to be bombing because I think that’s a better attitude to go with,” Trump said on “Squawk Box” Tuesday. “But, we’re ready to go. I mean, the military is raring to go. They are absolutely incredible.”

Vance previously traveled to Islamabad, Pakistan, and met with Iranian officials for 21 hours in an attempt to reach an agreement, though he stated that negotiations failed because Iran refused to abandon its nuclear program. Trump suggested on Sunday that he may travel to Islamabad himself if his envoys nail down a deal by the deadline.

Trump threatened to attack Iran “harder than any country has ever been hit before” if no deal is reached. He also revived his threat to strike the nation’s bridges and energy sites.

Earlier in the month, Trump warned that a “whole civilization will die” if Iran did not make a deal with the U.S. by the previous deadline on April 7. He previously dismissed concerns about potentially committing war crimes if he followed through with bombing nuclear power plants in Iran.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that the war would only last two to three weeks, though the public has remained skeptical on that claim. An NBC News Decision Desk/Survey Monkey poll from Sunday found that 67% of Americans disapprove of how Trump has handled the war, while an Ipsos poll found that 51% of Americans do not believe military action in Iran has been worthwhile.
