Speaker Johnson to Release Full J6 Videos to The Blaze? [UPDATED]

Update: According to some at The Blaze, the report is not totally true. Well, not yet. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, who confirmed the report earlier, had a different tone after deleting the “confirming” Tweet:

As The Blaze noted:

Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida confirmed a report that newly elected House Speaker Mike Johnson is fast-tracking the release of the security footage from the Jan. 6 rioting at the U.S. Capitol.

“I can confirm that this is true and something is in the works,” said Luna on social media Friday.

“We’re going to be releasing more and making it more available to the public,” she added in a second post.

Luna was referring to a statement from Blaze News investigative journalist Steve Baker, who said he was working with the speaker’s office for the release.

Baker said it was up to Johnson whether he would release all of the 40,000 hours of footage or part of it.

Blaze Media editor in chief Matthew Peterson said in a statement that he could not confirm a report from activist Ryan Fournier claiming all of the footage would be released to Blaze News.

“It is certainly true that we have been putting pressure on House Republicans to give us access and approval. As I said last week, it’s time for the House Republicans to keep their promise,” said Peterson.

Blaze News has already succeeded in obtaining previously unreleased frames from USCP CCTV video footage through the efforts of Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), chairman of the Committee on House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight.

“We’ve made some progress, and the statement given to us today from Representative Loudermilk is proof of this. But I have not yet heard anything about any of what Fournier says from the Speaker or his office,” Peterson added.

“I like to think Speaker Johnson will give us access. But I will only believe it when I see it,” Peterson concluded.

Original Story: It’s a start.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is reportedly releasing all of the January 6 footage to The Blaze to disseminate to the world. It’s not the ideal scenario as anything short of full public release is insufficient, but it’s better than Kevin McCarthy’s broken promises.

Better than McCarthy? Yes. Mission accomplished? Nope. If Mike Johnson is the guy most conservatives hope him to be, then a full public release will happen very, very soon.
