(WND)—Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed had been the newly picked Democrat party nominee for U.S. Senate from Michigan for only hours when startling charges about improper connections and cash arose.
El-Sayed’s campaign had taken in more than $115,000 from people “who work for or have held leadership roles with the Council on American-Islamic Relations,” according to a Fox News report.
The problem with that?
CAIR has been designated a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates and formally designated or labeled as such in Florida and Texas.
CAIR, the politically active organization promotion Islam throughout America, in fact, was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror-funding trial several years back.
The report said while El-Sayed has claimed his priority is getting “money out of politics,” he’s taken in cash from at least 41 people who either work at CAIR, did work at CAIR, or have held leadership posts.
Included on that list of donors are national CAIR figures Manal Fakhoury, Eyas Abdeen, Emad Sabbah and Jukaku Tayeb, the candidate’s father-in-law.
Further, the report said, Tayeb is part of the founding committee of the Islamic Society of North America, a “group linked to Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood funding,” the report said.
One donor was identified in the report as CAIR executive director Nihad Awad, who is listed in records as Nehad Hammad, and is known for his comment he was “happy” to see Hamas attack Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, in a brazen act of war in which some 1,200 Israelis were slaughtered.
Other CAIR-linked donors have connections to chapters in California, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, Washington, Illinois, Minnesota and Ohio.
El-Sayed’s own connections to CAIR include his appearance at a CAIR event in 2022 where he was paid for speaking.
CAIR told Fox it does not have ties to terrorism.
