We all have a poison we choose to ingest, something we know will kill us in the end. Sometimes we know the poison and other times we’re oblivious to it until it has done its damage. For America, the poison is a heavy reliance on America’s press. We count on them to do our thinking, investigating, and vetting of ideas in our national dialogue. If they are honest, their investigating and reporting protects us against tyranny from a dishonest government. If the press is dishonest, they are as much a poison as tyranny. Americans have ingested this press poison for over 100 years. The press has misled Americans to support its agenda to sell more papers and ad space and to support political allies of its choosing.
In 1898, a false report blamed the explosion of the U.S.S. Maine in Havana Harbor on Spanish saboteurs. William Randolph Hearst’s newspapers spread the lie so quickly that retraction was deemed impossible. American public opinion is cast against Spain. Truth is set aside, and the Spanish-American War is triggered.
Fast forward to the 1930s. Ukraine is suffering massive famine, a result of Communist agricultural policies. The famine lasts three years and kills an estimated 5 million people through planned starvation. Welsh journalist Gareth Jones raised the alarm in 1931, following his visits to the Soviet Union. He continued to visit and report on the famine-stricken region until Soviet officials expelled him in 1933 for shining light on the massive loss of life. Jones ruins the Soviet narrative that Communism is a success. A New York Times reporter and Communist sympathizer, Walter Duranty, serves as the paper’s Moscow bureau chief. He counters Jones’s claims and reports Communism works well in the Soviet Union. (He never leaves Moscow to investigate the Ukrainian famine in person.) Nothing to see here; Duranty convinces readers the Soviet system is an inspiring success. Jones is murdered in 1935 by Soviet Secret Police, while Duranty receives a Pulitzer Prize for his tales of Soviet success. Duranty’s glowing reports of Soviet successes falsely lead many Americans of the 1930s to believe Communism has all the answers while they suffer a Great Depression. That trust in Marxist ideology erodes quickly years later when American soldiers uncover and report atrocities of another Marxist regime, the National Socialist German Workers Party, more commonly known as the Nazi Party.
During World War Two, The New York Times suppresses reports of Hitler’s concentration camps and denies their existence. Only irrefutable photographic documentation captured by Eisenhower’s liberating troops counters that New York Times narrative and awakens Americans to the horrors of the Holocaust.
Fast forward to the 2020 election. The mainstream press fails to investigate election fraud allegations. Any reporter worth their salt should ask, “If a polling center is affected by burst pipes and that is the excuse for sending poll workers home, why are only Republican poll workers sent home, and what danger does the rupture pose to poll workers that wouldn’t affect the Democrat poll workers who remained? Where is the receipt for pipe repairs? Why is cardboard placed over the polling center windows in Pennsylvania while poll workers count votes? Why are votes accepted after the voting deadline? How do voting machines register more cast votes in a fraction of a second than they are capable of scanning, with 100% of those votes cast for Joe Biden with no down-ballot votes and evidence the ballots’ answers were mechanically printed?” The press rolls over and aids in this election coup, choosing instead to conjure the fictitious claim that Trump inspired a January 6th insurrection, a distractive red herring to the stolen election the press refuses to address. (Note: On January 6th, only Trump supporters die.)
Where are the persistent mainstream media reporters worth their salt?
Where is an honest, questioning press during Covid, when so many Americans watch loved ones die just out of reach because of Fauci’s fake 6-foot distancing rule?
Why is no one pressing medical dictator Dr. Fauci, who never once treated a Covid patient, about this 6-foot lie or any of his other lies related to the pandemic? (“Newscasts” are sponsored by Pfizer, Fauci’s business partner, so we’ll likely never get the truth.)
The press is poisoning us, once again, in the 2024 Presidential race. A recent article in The Atlantic spews completely fabricated allegations about Trump, all debunked by eyewitnesses. Yet the lies are still published to cast Donald Trump as a racist Nazi-admiring anti-Semite. (Ignoring Trump’s history with Israel and the fact he has grandchildren and daughters-in-law who are Jewish.)
The press fails to investigate the questionable Biden signature on a tweet announcing his withdrawal from the presidential race. This is a repeat of the mainstream media failure in 2016, when the DNC awarded Hillary Clinton the Democrat Party Presidential nomination over Bernie Sanders despite the discovery of emails negotiating the deal between the DNC and Hillary Clinton. Hillary takes Bernie’s victory. Kamala takes Joe’s. If the press is concerned about democracy as they claim, then where are interviews with angry Democrat voters whose primary votes were ignored in favor of the Democrat Party elites’ choice?
Why is the press ignoring the Biden/Harris Department of Justice’s effort to stop states from removing known non-citizens from their voter rolls?
California passed a law prohibiting poll workers from asking for voter identification, and instead of standing up for American voters, the mainstream media runs cover stories suggesting requiring voter ID is racist. Yet Americans need photo ID to do everything from buying alcohol, applying for food stamps, and seeing their doctor, to getting a library card and driving a car.
Why should voting in our Presidential election require less scrutiny of a person’s identity, and why would an alert press play along with such dilution of democracy?
In 2016, the press acted as a co-conspirator with the DNC in promoting the Steele Dossier to try to win the 2016 election for Democrats. The dossier was then used to trigger Trump’s first impeachment and has since been debunked as a DNC-paid-for political attack piece laundered through the press to gain legitimacy. In 2020, the press again helped Democrats by publishing a document signed by 51 “intelligence officers” dismissing the Hunter Biden laptop as Russian disinformation. We know now the laptop was authentic, Russia was not involved, and the 51 intelligence officers were political operatives. The mainstream media not only allowed but also aided the Democrats in running the same play unchecked.
The reality is the mainstream media is silent on so many issues while interfering in others to achieve their agenda. Corrupt leaders are left unchecked by a corrupt press. Honest questioning is missing. The mainstream media generates, propagates, and keeps alive lies and vicious propaganda intended to divide and confuse Americans. Their lies and misinformation lead Americans to make bad decisions. Our national dialogue is poisoned by their dishonest, anti-American agenda. The press hides behind the First Amendment’s freedom of the press while doing their best to tear down all the protections recognized by our Constitution as God-given rights. Their behavior is destroying us from within. Put bluntly, the mainstream media is an enemy of the people when it abdicates its duty to be honest.
Only an honest press can check a dishonest government. Americans must awaken to this poisoning. We must tune out, turn off, and push back against dishonest, self-serving agents in mainstream media. They are no better than Walter Duranty. Americans must seek truth and question government, always. We can no longer entrust that task to the mainstream media. We are strongest when we are united against any force that seeks to divide us.
