(WND)—The lone holdout juror on the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, a trial that ended in a mistrial because of the inability of the jury to be unanimous, was a black man.
That detail about the case appeared during an interview by CBS talk show entertainer Gayle King and one of the jurors.
“I have to sit with that for just a second,” said King, who was interviewing juror Paul Devlin.
Clancy admitted killing her three children but the defense argued she was not guilty by reason of insanity. Details emerged about how she was given multiple psychotic drugs for a postpartum condition she experienced.
The jury ended up with 11 voting for not guilty by reason of insanity, and one, the holdout, voting to convict.
A report at the Gateway Pundit explained, “During a Friday CBS interview with juror Paula Devlin, King wanted to know exactly who the holdout juror was, likely thinking he was a heartless white man.”
King asked, “I’m curious about the jurors themselves because we know it was nine women, three men. What was the age range? What was the racial makeup? I haven’t heard any of that. What was it?”
Devlin said the age range was from 20s to 70-ish, there were nine women and three men, and all were white except the holdout.
It’s not been announced whether another trial will be held but Clancy’s lawyer has been active, promoting a pardon for her to remove the option of another trial.
King said, “A black man is a holdout juror.”
She appeared to be stewing about that.
“All right, I’m very fascinated by the holdout juror learning that he’s a black man today. Can you just tell me his age? I’m very curious,” she said. Upon learning that he was in his 30s, King was astonished once again. “Oh, younger,” she added.
