(WND)—One published report described them as “feral teens” and police confirmed a mob estimated at about 500 invaded and took over a grocery store and a nearby restaurant, simple taking items and leaving behind destruction.
It all happened in Colorado, which is run by a Democrat governor, has Democrat majorities in the state House and Senate, and has an all-Democrat state Supreme Court in a trifecta that has imposed ultra-liberal policies and agendas on residents for many years already.
Police in Aurora, Colorado, said the events developed on Sunday.
A “large gathering of approximately 500 young people, primarily between the ages of 14 and 17,” was reported at a shopping center.
“The gathering appears to have been organized through social media around an unpermitted sporting event. What may have started as a social gathering quickly became a significant public safety issue as the crowd grew. Participants entered nearby roadways and smaller groups broke away and entered surrounding businesses,” police documented.
At the grocery store:
Police said, of the feral teens, “While some simply ran through the businesses, others vandalized property and stole merchandise. As the behavior escalated, the Aurora Police Department declared the gathering an unlawful assembly and ordered the crowd to disperse. More than 70 Aurora police personnel ultimately responded to the incident and remained in the area for several hours to restore order and protect the surrounding community and businesses.”
Chief Todd Chamberlain said, “We will not tolerate groups taking over roadways, disrupting businesses, damaging property or stealing under the belief that being part of a large crowd provides anonymity. It does not.”
Video and other evidence now is being reviewed to identify suspects and attack to them various criminal charges.
“When hundreds of young people suddenly gather and behavior begins to escalate, the consequences can become serious very quickly. Police officers should not have to be pulled away from other community emergencies to manage behavior that could have been prevented,” Chamberlain said.
At a nearby fast-food restaurant:
A report at the Daily Mail, which described the mob as “feral teens,” said the violence was “the latest dystopian incident that has left locals terrified.”
“Social media video showed teens carrying stolen tables, throwing food items on the floor, and running around the aisles as shoppers attempted to complete their grocery runs,” the report said.
One worker was quoted telling a local television station, “It was like a nightmare. … It was like a lot of people. And I talked to security and they said yeah we are taking care of it. But obviously not.”
Jessica Trowbridge, a spokesperson for King Soopers, told the Daily Mail that the company was “extremely disappointed by the disruptive actions of a large group of individuals that stormed our store.”
