(WND)—It’s election season in America and so the art of political persuasion is at a peak.
Advocating for those you like, opposing those you don’t is the simple fact of life for those who participate in election races.
But there are those who believe now that one Democrat may have taken his efforts to persuade a little too far: Those would include prosecutors in Miami who booked failed candidate Elijah Manley into the Broward County jail after he apparently threatened to cut the heads off those who didn’t do as he demanded.

A report at Legal Insurrection explained Manley, who failed in his campaign for Congress, coming in third in a race that also included Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, was insisting that his colleagues support Democratic Socialist Angie Nixon, an extremist running for the U.S. Senate seat in Florida.
The 27-year-old Manley was accused of two counts of making written or electronic threats to kill or injure, felonies.
One of his posts said, “Every Democrat needs to get behind the Democratic nominee for Senate [Angie Nixon]. Anybody not doing that, I promise you I’m going to cut your [expletive] head off.”
Manley later tagged two people in the comments and wrote more messages that investigators interpreted as threats.
Another said, “I’m talking to y’all. I saw y’all comments earlier. I’m already pissed off, do not piss me off more. I swear to god, take me to war over this black woman, and I promise y’all I will burn y’all [expletive] castle to the ground and anyone else in my way.”
Manley told investigators that such statements actually were not threats.
They were just part of a political disagreement and that he was challenging others’ political perspectives, he claimed.
He was jailed on $40,000 bond, then released with restrictions.
According to the report, “Broward State Attorney’s Office spokesperson Paula McMahon told NBC Miami that the office will not be handling the case because the ‘listed victims have participated in several charitable drives organized by the Broward State Attorney’s Office over the years.’ McMahon added that the office has asked Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to assign the case to another state attorney’s office.”
Manley is a Democratic Party organizer who identifies as a socialist.
