With Mitch McConnell stepping down after 200 years of being either Senate Majority or Minority Leader, three Senators have declared they want to fill the vacancy. Billionaire Trump ally Elon Musk has weighed in on the matter after doing a couple of polls on 𝕏.
“Rick Scott for Senate Majority Leader!”

Musk joins a growing chorus of conservative influencers as well as Republican Senators who are backing Scott for the position. But Scott faces headwinds because the only people who vote for GOP Senate leadership are Republican Senators themselves and the ballots are secret.
Is it even possible for Scott to win with McConnell running the secret vote? That’s right, the fate of leadership in the United States Senate is being run by the most corrupt politician this side of Nancy Pelosi. And he has a vested interest in making sure that his long-time errand boy John Thune replaces him. If not Thune, then John Cornyn is the backup.
To be fair, I’m not fully sold on Rick Scott, either. But just like Mike Johnson has been marginally better than Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House, it’s fair to expect Scott to be better than either Thune or Cornyn as Senate Majority Leader.
Then, there’s the J.D. Vance option, but most consider it to be far-fetched at best.
